OIC is home to two world-class research centers. Our quest for more knowledge and better techniques never stops.
The JVL Research Center, located on Orthopaedic Hospital's downtown campus, is one of two research components of the UCLA and Orthopaedic Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The mission of the JVL Research Center is to develop a deeper understanding of the biology and biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, and to apply this knowledge to the improvement of orthopaedic materials, implants, surgical instrumentation and surgical techniques, thereby improving the quality of care to orthopaedic patients world-wide.
The center is located on the UCLA Westwood campus and was constructed in 2007. The five-story, 95,000-square-foot facility is another result of the cooperative effort with UCLA. It is here that the research activities of OIC and UCLA combine to create the largest collaborative and coordinated orthopaedic research effort in the United States.
The specialized laboratories of the Luck Center routinely collaborate among each other, with clinicians, and with the investigators of the Orthopaedic Hospital Research Center on the UCLA campus to develop highly translational solutions to multidisciplinary problems of the musculoskeletal system.
Our research program is among the top ten orthopaedic research enterprises funded by the National Institutes of Health. Meet the team who helped get us there.
In partnership with UCLA, we are the largest collaborative orthopedic research team in the country. Meet the team who has helped to expand our musculoskeletal research activities.
