Ranked As One Of The Nation's Top Pediatric Orthopaedic Programs

LOS ANGELES, July 10, 2013 - Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital (LAOH) specialists, providing all orthopaedic care at Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA, have been recognized as one of the nation's top pediatric orthopaedic programs in the U.S. News & World Report's 2012–2013 "Best Children's Hospitals" rankings.

The report ranked the care provided by LAOH seventeenth on a national scale and third in California alone. The rankings reflect data based on the performance delivered to patients.

"We are extremely pleased to be ranked among the nation's leading providers providing excellent care to children. Our staff members are dedicated to our mission; to provide outstanding orthopaedic care to the children we treat," said Dr. Anthony Scaduto, president and chief executive officer at LAOH and executive vice chair at UCLA/Orthopaedic Hospital, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

This year, U.S. News & World Report surveyed 178 pediatric centers to obtain the data, used in these rankings such as the availability of resources and hospitals' ability to prevent complications and infections. A separate reputational survey asked 1,500 pediatric specialists — 150 in each specialty — where they would send the sickest children in their specialty. The rankings were determined by combining the two surveys. The full rankings and methodology are available here.
