ASC Opens Doors To More Children

You responded with open hearts when we asked your help building an Ambulatory Surgery Center for our patients who were routinely denied their recommended outpatient surgeries elsewhere.

Your ASC opened its doors to kids on time and on budget this past summer and has been busy ever since. Fracture repair has been the most common surgery required, with sports-related injury care a close second.

Since opening day, the Surgery Center has served an increasing number of patients—a fact that speaks to how many children in our community need this service.

The story of our 100th patient presents a perfect case to highlight why our ASC was built.

Kayle, 12 years old, lives in Redondo Beach and has a chronic bone condition in her foot. For months, her parents tried in vain to get their daughter the care she deserves, fighting with insurance companies and endless waiting to schedule the much needed surgery. Then they found OIC.

Thanks to OIC’s extraordinary donors and exceptional ASC staff, Kayle had the surgery she desperately needed and will soon return to the softball field.
