Who We Are

The Urgent Care Center at Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) provides essential emergency medical care to children with musculoskeletal injuries. Our Center is staffed by emergency physicians, with the support of an on-site orthopaedic resident. An orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedic care is always on-call. Patients are efficiently evaluated and treated. Those with non-surgical injuries receive treatment on-the-spot; those in need of urgent surgical management are admitted to Santa Monica-UCAL Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital. After the injury is initially managed at the Urgent Care Center at OIC, children are followed in one of the OIC Fracture Clinics.

What To Bring

We are always ready to provide essential emergency care to children with musculoskeletal injuries. Here’s what you can bring with you to make the process as smooth as possible:

  • Patient’s insurance card
  • Parent’s picture ID
  • Legal guardian’s picture ID along with court documents
  • X-Rays (films/CD)
  • ER discharge paperwork (if available)
  • Current medication list
  • Do not feed the patient. If medication is needed, this can cause nausea and vomiting.
