Treatment for All Types of Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a treatable condition and should not be allowed to become a disabling one. We specialize in diagnosing, managing and treating all types of scoliosis: idiopathic, congenital and neuromuscular. Our specialists will ensure the best possible outcome whether the curve is mild and just needs monitoring, or severe enough that surgery is the best option. When scoliosis is treated correctly, it should not affect a child’s ability to lead a normal life.

A Comprehensive Range of Resources for Physicians, Patients and Families

The LuskinOIC Pediatric Center for Scoliosis offers a comfortable environment for children and families facing scoliosis. The dedicated team provides comprehensive scoliosis treatment, including diagnostic testing with low-radiation X-rays and 3D imaging software, ongoing monitoring for mild curves, bracing for moderate curves, growth-friendly treatment for young patients, surgery for severe curves, and follow-up care during and after recovery. The focus on a specific critical area allows physicians and nurses to provide optimal patient care, leading to an improved patient and family experience. Physical therapy is also available if needed.

OUR RESEARCH CENTERS

Our Researchers Are Advancing the Treatment of Scoliosis

At the JVL Research Center at LuskinOIC, our biomechanical engineers and pediatric orthopedic surgeons collaborate regularly to address clinical and surgical problems in the lab. Our team has developed several in vitro models that allow surgeons to compare the effectiveness of various corrective maneuvers in the laboratory. These in vitro models offer the advantage of testing surgical procedures pre-operatively.

Recent clinical research conducted by our scoliosis team has led to improved osteotomy techniques and less blood loss. Our current research projects include federally funded studies on the genetics of scoliosis and a smart implant coating that reduces surgical site infections. The research projects focusing on scoliosis and related surgeries have been published in major international journals.
