About The Center for Sports Medicine at OIC

At OIC’s Center for Sports Medicine, we like winners. And we want you to beat your sports injury as quickly as possible.

We strive to get each and every young athlete back to their sport as soon as possible. We also want to ensure that their recovery positions them for long-term success as well.

While our treatment is tailored to each child’s unique needs, our goals are the same for all patients:

  • Provide top-notch care for sports injuries
  • Empower young athletes to recover and get back in the game
  • Work to ensure long-term recovery success by helping our patients prevent future re-injuries

 

Services Provided at OIC's Center for Sports Medicine

At the Center for Sports Medicine, our experienced team of care providers offers a full range of services for young athletes, including:

  • Diagnostic tests and imaging, such as CT scans and MRIs
  • Same-day care for orthopaedic sports injuries, including same-day surgery if needed
  • Next-day follow-up and specialist appointments, if needed
  • Surgical and non-surgical treatment, tailored to your child’s needs
  • Long-term follow-up care, including physical therapy, to ensure your child is ready to get back in the game
  • Partnership with your team’s coach during recovery 

 

What to Bring to OIC's Center for Sports Medicine

  • Your child’s insurance card
  • Your picture ID
  • Court documents showing you have legal guardianship (if you are not the child’s parent)
  • List of the child’s current medications

If your child has already been seen in an emergency room (ER) for the injury, please also bring:

  • Any X-rays taken in the ER (the ER should be able to provide these to you on CD)
  • Discharge papers (when available)

 

Questions To Ask About Treatment For Your Child’s Sports Injury

Never be afraid to ask questions at OIC. We encourage it. The answers can help you and your child understand what you’ll need to do to actively participate in the recovery journey.

Our team of care providers at OIC’s Center for Sports Medicine is ready to answer any and all questions you might have, including:

  • Does my child need surgery? If so, what are the risks of the procedure?
  • Does my child need a cast? If so, for how long?
  • What are some cast care tips for my child and me to keep in mind?
  • Which activities should my child avoid during recovery?
  • Will my child need physical therapy?
  • What other kinds of follow-up care will my child need?
  • How can I help my child with pain management?
  • How might this injury impact my child in the future?

Directions 

From the 110 Freeway going south:

  • Take the Adams Boulevard exit
  • At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight
  • Make a slight right turn onto Figueroa Street
  • Turn left onto Adams Boulevard
  • Turn left into the OIC entrance, off of Adams Boulevard—the first driveway on the left, immediately after you pass Flower Street and the freeway overpass

From the 110 Freeway going north:

  • Take the Adams Boulevard exit
  • Turn right onto Adams Boulevard
  • Immediately turn left into the OIC entrance, off of Adams Boulevard—the first driveway on the left, immediately after you turn onto Adams Boulevard

From the 10 Freeway going east or west:

  • From the 10 freeway, take the 110, Harbor Freeway South
  • Take the Adams Boulevard exit
  • At the bottom of the exit ramp, go straight
  • Make a slight right turn onto Figueroa Street
  • Turn left onto Adams Boulevard
  • Turn left into the OIC entrance, off of Adams Boulevard—the first driveway on the left, immediately after you pass Flower Street and cross over the freeway overpass

Public Transportation - Downtown Los Angeles

Metro Rail Service is available to OIC's campus in downtown Los Angeles by taking the Expo Line to the LATTC/Ortho Institute stop (S. Flower Street).

Enter the campus using the gate across from the rail stop. Gate access is available between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. After 7 p.m. or on weekends, please use the entrance on West Adams Boulevard. 


 

Parking Information - Downtown Los Angeles

Enter the Orthopaedic Institute for Children and Urgent Care Center from Adams Boulevard (not Flower Street). Parking is on the right inside the adjacent apartment complex and parking structure.

Patient and visitor parking is $4.00 per day.

Monday through Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Directions 

From the 10 Freeway West

  • Exit at Cloverfield Blvd (north) to Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Turn left (west) on Santa Monica Blvd.
  • Turn right (north) on 15th St. to 1225 15th St.
  • There is valet parking at our entrance and parking garages on 15th and 16th streets. 

From the 405 Freeway (San Diego Freeway)

  • Connect with the 10 Freeway West and follow the directions above or exit Wilshire Blvd. West (from the San Fernando Valley), merge onto Wilshire Blvd.
  • Turn left (south) on 15th St.
  • There is valet parking at the entrance and a parking garage across from the hospital.

 

Parking Information - Santa Monica 

There are several parking options available to patients and visitors. These options include:

  • Valet Service -- 1225 15th Street; Weekdays: 4:45 am to 6:30 pm.  Rates available from the valet.
  • 1260 15th St. Medical Building -- Weekdays: 6:30 am to 10 pm; Saturdays: 8 am to 6 pm. Rates posted at entrance.
  • 1250 16th St. Medical Building -- Weekdays: 6 am to 10 pm; Saturdays: 8 am to 5 pm. Rates posted at entrance.
  • 1311 16th St. Structure -- Weekdays: 6:30 pm to 6 am; Weekends, Holidays: All day. Access tokens available for $5 at our main Security desk at 1225 15th St.
  • Metered street parking -- Please carefully read street signs.  Meters in effect every day except Sunday.
