LOS ANGELES – Matthew Niedzwiecki has been named chief operating officer of Orthopædic Institute for Children (OIC). Effective, September 9, 2014, Niedzwiecki will direct the strategic operation of OIC and oversee the administrative functions of the organization.
“Throughout his 20-year career, Matthew has successfully managed ambulatory and hospital-based pediatric operations. Our strategic plan includes significant growth in Southern California, and I am confident that his experience and proven leadership will help us deliver the highest quality orthopaedic care to more children,” said Dr. Anthony A. Scaduto, president and chief executive officer of OIC.
Most recently, Niedzwiecki served as vice-president of ambulatory, ancillary and support services at Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC). During his seven years there, he spearheaded a comprehensive ambulatory care strategy that spanned the Orange County and Inland Empire markets. He also developed and implemented a strategic operating plan for the organization’s Orthopaedic and Neuro Science Institutes. Prior to CHOC, Niedzwiecki spent 13 years at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, as senior managing director of quality, ambulatory, ancillary and support services. He was also the director of quality and case management at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for five years, before going to San Diego.
Niedzwiecki received his master of business administration (MBA) degree in finance and business economics from Wayne State University. He is also certified in healthcare Lean Six Sigma, a methodology used to improve clinical operations and quality of care.
